Recreational and day touring kayaks are typically short (9'-14' in length) and wide kayaks, that are designed for the beginner to intermediate paddler. These kayaks are suited for day tripping, whether it be exploring your local lake, pond, sheltered bay or slow moving river. Bird watching, fishing, photography and day tripping adventures are common activities that are ideally suited for these shorter kayaks. Additionally, these kayaks are great for those who have storage and transportation constraints. Many a rec kayak has been stored in an apartment, transported on top of a Fifth Wheel and stowed on a deck of a large boat.
